2022 marked a significant period of growth in my career as I gained experience working on a wide range of diverse video projects. This particular project was undoubtedly a standout moment during that productive and enriching year.

’Moneygraphy’ is a documentary series that delves into the world of Korean food trends, exploring the interplay between taste, consumption, and economic factors. Through an examination of popular keywords such as cheese, natural wine, specialty coffee, vegetarian cuisine, and trendy dining spots, the film sheds light on the evolving landscape of gastronomy and its impact on both local and global cultures.

Graphics

Initially, establishing the graphic's tone posed a significant challenge, as I was tasked with creating graphics for all seven episodes of the documentary. We began by experimenting with full illustrations, but as the project progressed, we explored various approaches, incorporating elements such as bold typography and photo collages. Through this iterative process, we were able to develop a cohesive and engaging visual identity for the series.

Ultimately, we developed a foundational graphic style that combined straightforward illustrations with geometric shapes, economic data-inspired graphs, and figures. By establishing this visual motif, we successfully completed the overall graphics package, including transitions, a cohesive subtitle style, and engaging title animations. This consistent aesthetic helped tie together the documentary and enhance its overall impact.

Animation

Building upon the established character designs, I developed animations to narrate the secondhand fraud incidents. Additionally, I created motion graphics that effectively highlighted key statistics and textual information, along with implementing bold and visually impactful subtitle graphics.

The documentary received a positive response upon its release on YouTube, which eventually led to the creation of a companion book. I was thrilled and honored to have my illustrations featured on the book's cover. I couldn't resist sharing the book, a cherished gift from the producer, with my parents as a testament to our collective accomplishment!
